Kapsabet Municipality continues to witness significant improvement in its road network through collaboration between the Municipality, Kenya Urban Roads Authority (KURA), the County Government and other development partners.
Under the current KURA programme, 11 kilometres of roads have been earmarked for improvement within Kapsabet Town. The programme comprises 6.7 km of main road projects and an additional 4.3 km of Mashujaa roads, which are expected to enhance accessibility, connectivity and movement within the town.
The projects include roads linking key institutions, residential areas, commercial centres and public facilities, including the KCRH–KCB–NSSF road, Police Station–Trade Offices, Surungai Road, ICT Centre–Keben Stores, KANU–KANAWASCO, KANAWASCO–Roxy School, Affordable Housing–County Assembly, Law Courts–Water Supply Roads, Namgoi–Kapsabet Girls–Irimis Primary, among others.
The 6.7 km main road network has already been awarded to a contractor, while the additional 4.3 km Mashujaa roads are planned for improvement ahead of the Mashujaa Day celebrations.
At the same time, Kapsabet Municipality is undertaking complementary urban road and streetscape improvements within its mandate, including maintenance, drainage improvements, pedestrian infrastructure and enhancement of selected urban streets.
These interventions are part of the broader effort to create a well-connected, accessible, clean and modern Kapsabet Municipality, while improving mobility, supporting businesses and enhancing the quality of life for residents.
