Kapsabet Municipality is undertaking ongoing rehabilitation works at the current dumpsite as part of efforts to improve solid waste management and promote a cleaner and healthier Kapsabet.
Recently, the Municipality acquired a waste compactor that will enhance the handling and management of waste at the site. Through compaction, waste is compressed to significantly reduce its volume, enabling larger quantities of waste to be accommodated and transported more efficiently. This helps reduce the frequency of trips, save time and fuel and make better use of municipal resources.
As the rehabilitation works continue, the Municipality is also encouraging residents, businesses and institutions to embrace waste segregation at source by separating recyclable materials such as plastics, paper, glass and metals from other waste reduces the quantity of waste reaching the dumpsite and makes recovery and recycling easier.
It is important to note that recycling not only reduces pressure on disposal sites but also conserves natural resources, creates employment opportunities and contributes to a cleaner environment.
The ongoing works at the dumpsite, together with improved waste collection and compaction, mark an important step towards a more efficient, sustainable and environmentally responsible waste management system in Kapsabet Municipality.
