Kapsabet Municipality is strengthening solid waste management through the acquisition of a waste compactor and 20 colour-coded waste bins to promote waste segregation and improve cleanliness across the Municipality.
The compactor will enhance the efficiency of waste collection and transportation by compressing waste, allowing larger volumes to be transported in fewer trips. This will help reduce operational costs, improve collection efficiency and minimise the accumulation of waste in public spaces.
The 20 colour-coded bins will complement the compactor by encouraging residents, businesses and visitors to separate waste at the point of disposal. Segregation will make it easier to manage recyclable, organic and other types of waste, while supporting recycling and environmentally responsible waste management practices.
Together, the compactor and colour-coded bins will contribute to cleaner streets, markets and public spaces, reduce littering and support a healthier urban environment.
The initiative demonstrates Kapsabet Municipality’s commitment to modernising waste management, promoting environmental sustainability and improving service delivery
