County Strengthens Coordination on land use development control - Kapsabet Municipality

The Department of Lands, Housing, Physical Planning and Urban Development today convened a countywide sensitization forum bringing together County Executive Committee Members, the Office of the County Attorney, the Development Control and Enforcement Committee, and Sub-County Administrators from all six sub-counties.

Speaking during the meeting, CECM for Environment, Climate Change and Energy, Hillary Serem, emphasized on the importance of the County Land Use and Development Control Policy as a critical framework for guiding lawful and orderly development.

He noted that the policy promotes coordinated enforcement across departments, enhances compliance with environmental, public health & safety standards and reduces exposure to disaster & climate-related risks.

The policy further provides clear guidance on land-use approvals, development control processes, building standards, environmental safeguards, public health requirements, disaster risk mitigation. It also supports sustainable, resilient and inclusive growth; safeguarding public interest, natural resources and infrastructure investments across the county.

Also present were CECM Administration Dr. Philemon Bureti, CECM Health Dr Angeline Kirui, Municipal Manager Afayo Lel and other technical staff.
